Travel Tools | Roadside America Road Trip App

The Roadside America Road Trip Application by the website RoadsideAmerica.com is definitely what it claims to be: “Your Guide to Offbeat Tourist Attractions”.   The great thing about this road trip app is that it gives you a reason to just jump in the car and go find something interesting around you. When using the app, you can see everything from historical places like museums or monuments  to the world’s largest, smallest, oldest attraction and everything in between.

Even if you aren’t on a road trip it’s worth the download to see what oddities made the app that are located in your own area ( you might be surprised at things you weren’t even aware of closeby).

You can browse through the attractions based on proximity or view them on a map. Each one has a rating, description and directions on how to get there.

You can also browse by theme or location.

It even has some unique features to make sure you dont miss a sunset and to escape boring tourists experiences:

This road trip app is awesome if you are looking for an excuse to get out of the house and travel to find something cool to go see in your area. If you are on a road trip it’s the perfect tool to find interesting things to stop and see on the way to your destination. Some things are even worth a detour to go check out. On my USA Roadtrip of 2011, I spent entire days at attractions found via the app. Old train tunnel hiking trails in the Cascade Mountains of Washington and Automobile Museums/ Defunct Jails in Montana were just a few of them:

Train Tunnel, Snoqualmie National Forest - Washington

Old Prison Museum - Deer Lodge Montana
