Blindly Buying a 1994 Nissan Pickup and Driving it Across the Country

The only thing riskier than buying a vehicle before test driving it? ….driving it across the country to get it home.

This is exactly what I did Christmas of 2017. I had decided I wanted a second road-legal 4-wheeled vehicle to 1) Make […]

Scotland – London

A few photos from some quick sight-seeing on a business trip. Managed to get up to the highlands in Scotland to see Loch Ness (but not the monster) and some of the tourist spots and graffiti spots in London.

Monument Valley - Honda Civic Triplapser

The 100K Bucketlist Racetrack Roadtrip Adventure

In what has become a tradition of taking a major trip in between jobs like I did in 2011 and 2012, I continued the trend this year when I left my first full-time in Austin after three years and had already secured a new one starting a month later. So there I was with a gap in between positions and a laundry list of trips I wanted to take in 2016. I was originally going to jump on motorcycle and […]

Camping Trip!

Music Capitol of the World (Austin) to Music City (Nashville)

I’ve made this drive in a single day before (multiple times) but luckily we took our time this time (how many times can I say time in one sentence?). We camped and saw some surprisingly bright fall colors in northeastern Texas, made a stop overnight in Tulsa and camped in Missouri for a night before spending a few days in Nashville. Pro Tip: If you are going to spend Thanksgiving anywhere but home make sure you make a dinner reservation. […]

Santa Elena Canyon - Big Bend

Big Bend National Park

A few brave friends and I decided to spend Thanksgiving away from our families and instead in one the country’s most remote National Parks. Thanksgiving is a great time to camp as we had most of the campground to ourselves and the temperatures were perfect for hiking. Nights were a little rough with only a 30 degree bag and no sleeping pad or pillow but enough booze worked to put me to sleep. Unfortunately there are no fires allowed either […]

West Texas Stargazing Trip

A trip from Austin, TX to Fort Davis, TX to check out the observatory and some seriously clear night skies. Took a day trip down to Marfa and did some hiking around Fort Davis then looked through the gigantic telescopes at the observatory.
