The Great NYC DSLR Meetup
Twitter has been an amazing tool for networking and meeting people in the video/film world since I joined a couple years ago. I communicate with some of my followers on twitter on a somewhat regular basis, enough that I know what they look like and some of their hobbies and interests. However until last Wednesday I had never met any of my twitter friends in real life.
I was contacted on twitter by Anthony Quintano (@Quintanomedia) about a Canon DSLR meetup that would feature DSLR filmmaker Philip Bloom. I decided even though it was a 3-4 hour trip from Albany, it would be worth it to attend. I was right. Meeting Philip and other Twitter friends was a really fun experience. It was also exhilarating to see how many Canon enthusiasts were passionate enough about HDSLR filmmaking to show in Times Square together.
I’m looking forward to attending more #nychdslr meetups in the future. Here’s the facebook group for those interested in joining: NYC DSLR Network
The meetup was something, wasn’t it? Was 2+ hr ride for me, but worth it. 1st time I’d been to something like that, and it was cool meeting ppl w/ similar interests, w/ various exp. Large turnout so then i don’t think we got to meet. perhaps @ another meetup then (@wynddan)
I agree, it was well worth the drive. It was amazing meeting so many DSLR enthusiasts at one time. I feel like we need to make a weekend out of it next time!
Twitter has been an amazing networking tool for me as well. Not only for networking, but also for news and photography information. I am glad to see that you are blogging. Can’t wait to see what else you can do with that camera. Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. I will do the same for you.
I truly think Twitter is the fastest news source there is.
