View this post on Instagram Made it to the starting line for #oloa2019 with only a small crack in the windshield (which is fixed for now with a sticker over it). Some amazing cars here this year and lots of lap puppy newbies like my Dad who was distraught over having to sticker his car in order to participate. We kick things off at Tire Rack HQ soon! View this post on Instagram Day 3 of #oloa2019 – I finally get to drive the Vette on track! The morning session was super sketchy and multiple cars ended up crashing (luckily everyone is ok) and I went out and was successful in surviving the session in this high powered RWD beast of a car. Had a great time running in the same run group as @travispastrana and @nick_kohrs in his boosted civic! The afternoon cleared up and I finally got to see what the car was like in dry conditions and finished the same position as my dad did the day before despite many errors of trying to learn the car. Beautiful drive through Wisconsin from state of the art Road America into Minnesota where we head to old school Brainaird today. A post shared by Brian DeFrees (@defrees) on May 7, 2019 at 4:21am PDT

View this post on Instagram What a cool track. I really wished I had gotten to drive today because the Civic Si took 4th place in the morning like this track was built for it! In the same session Hal took 19th place (our best team finish yet). We had a visit from @manjo05 and Mija and it was awesome to see people’s faces light up by seeing a dog after all these miles away from their pets at home. Had an awesome transit to Bowling Green and a great warmup party at the Corvette bar before we head back to South Bend tomorrow after running NCM for the second year in a row. #onenapofamerica #oloa2019 A post shared by Brian DeFrees (@defrees) on May 9, 2019 at 11:43pm PDT

View this post on Instagram Driving Corvettes at the National Corvette Museum…MURICA 🇺🇸! I started the week off somewhat shaken and overly cautious after all the crashes at Road America in WI (placing 60th in the morning session) After it dried that day I got a big boost when I managed 35th in the dry, then felt even better when I got 35th and 27th in the pouring wet at Hastings in NE and then finally felt comfortable with the car by NCM in KY placing 23th, 21st, and 20th. Getting better but still feeling like I have so much to learn! A post shared by Brian DeFrees (@defrees) on May 12, 2019 at 11:55am PDT

View this post on Instagram 5000 miles, 9 Days, 19 events – #OLOA2019 is in the books! My Dad and I just managed to edge Travis Pastrana and Marcus Luttrel by a mere 20 points to take home 27th place overall out of 80 extremely talented drivers and very fast cars (My best one lap finish yet)! Hope to see both these guys next year, we had a great time on and off track with them, our gas monkey neighbors, the Civic lap pups and the rest of the circus. In the final event, I attempted the dry skidpad for the first time ever and placed 16th (my personal best for a one lap single event, previously it was 35th coming into this year) Besides the obvious differences of driving a much higher powered, RWD car that did not belong to me, the other main differences this year were no fast food stops and amazingly no naps! Special Thanks to my Dad for letting me wheel the Vette and to #69 Stray Dogs race team (Howard LaFever and Mark Grzella) for guiding the Vettegang around the country and opening the Corvette bar every stop on the way! Can’t wait for One Lap 2020! A post shared by Brian DeFrees (@defrees) on May 13, 2019 at 11:22am PDT

View this post on Instagram My 3rd @officialoloa in the books. Photos and even words don’t really help to convey how great of a week this is every year, especially when you get to share it with a family member like I did this time. What was once just an event to check off the bucket list is now the annual event I look forward to the most. Thanks again to my Dad for trusting me with your Vette! Lots learned this year and so much more to learn in this car… bring on #OLOA2020! A post shared by Brian DeFrees (@defrees) on Jun 21, 2019 at 8:51am PDT
